My latest drink obsession is Firehouse Sub’s Cherry Limeade. Last fall was my first intro to Firehouse Subs in the Buford area. The subs were delicious and I was super excited to see a Coke Freestyle machine when we entered the door. Of course I’d seen the Coke Freestyle machine on our last trip to the Coke museum in June (2011). And discovered I love vanilla Pibb (another story all together). But seeing how this was our first visit to Firehouse Subs I felt I should give their signature drink a try. I of course added the recommended fresh lime wedges and was immediately smitten.
Unfortunately the closest Firehouse Sub is over an hour away. I thought I’d try Sonic’s cherry limeade. I mean they’re always talking about it on the commercials. No comparison. It was all fizzy (carbonated) which I hadn’t really noticed Firehouse subs wasn’t until I took my first sip of Sonic’s. That got me to thinking I might be able to reproduce this delicious concoction at home with the right combination of Kool aide and fresh limes.
A couple of weeks and a bag of limes later I came up with the following.
Firehouse Sub Famous Cherry Limeade Hack
1 pkg Black Cherry Kool aid
1 pkg Lemon-Lime Kool aid
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 limes quartered and squose
2+ quarts water
I mix this in my two quart pitcher but it’s a tad strong so you can add a bit of water back after the first glass. Don’t try this with regular cherry Kool aid, you’ll be disappointed.

I wish I had seen cherry limeaid when I was there today, I will have to stop in soon just to try it. Have you tried the cherry limeade mix at target? they have the small packets to add to a bottle of water. I am terribly addicted to it!
Yes you should make a special stop just for the cherry limeade! I won’t judge. I may or may not have done it myself. I have seen the cherry limeade mixes in the store lately but haven’t tried them yet. They weren’t available (atleast not in my stores) when I wrote this post. I hope you enjoy this less portable version too!

Bless you! I love their Cherry Limeade so much but could never figure out the right combo to have it in a mass quantity in the house. The carbonated alternatives just are not the same. If only they bottled and sold it lol I’ll be trying out this recipe this week! Thanks for sharing!
I’m excited that I found your post about cherry limeade. I’m addicted to the Firehouse Subs version. That Sonic stuff is awful! If this turns out the way I hope, I’ll be your bff! I used to buy jugs of the syrup years ago but but for some reason you can’t find it anymore, so my fingers are crossed for this 🙂

Tried it in substitution to cherry coke(in canada its out of season @ retail untill the fall unless you go to 1 of the few small time variety stores that import it) was worth it.
Recently they opened 1 close to a local mall I go to frequently not bad but at price & speed of service cant say id stop going to subway( which most have spire fountains or modded lancer units)
